The Interview
My Selection: Could you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
Dan Yeo: I’m Dan. I co-run a portraiture studio called White Room Studio in Singapore.
MS: What does your job entail exactly?
DY: I provide personal and corporate portraiture services to clients from all walks of life.
MS: How long have you been living in Singapore and what brought you there?
DY: I was born and bred here. What make me stay here are the comforts my home country provides.
MS: With work done, how do you like spending your free time in the Lion City?
DY: I usually hang out indoors with my close friends with some good wine or sake. Sometimes we will check out interesting art exhibitions during the opening nights.
MS: Singapore is famously a melting pot of cultures and, as a result, also of multiple cuisines. What are your favorites?
DY: Too many! Singapore has an amazing selection to choose from. Chinese and Japanese cuisines are my comfort foods.
MS: Where do you like to have dinner in Singapore? Could you name your Top 3 picks among restaurants, bars & cafes in Singapore?
DY: Ryu’s at Capitol Piazza never disappoints. Excellent service and food. Fresh ingredients, Southbridge Oyster Bar is a comfortable place for casual hangouts. Nice rooftop view. Generally doesn’t have to wait for a table even when it’s busy and Shin Yeh Restaurant at Liang Court provides great Taiwanese cuisine. Relaxing ambience and efficient service.

MS: Selecting wine depends very much on the occasion. When do you like to drink wine? On its own / with a meal / alone / with company?
DY: Definitely with company! Wine tastes better when shared amongst good friends.
MS: Are there any wines that you particularly like and would recommend to our readers? Or maybe you have your favorite pairings with the food you mentioned before?
DY: Red wine is my go-to, with or without food! Burgundy with a premium ribeye cut is my top choice for pairing.
