Showcasing a Miao-style skirt in dyed woven cotton, each skirt is pleated and then sewn by hand.
Miao skirts are festive costumes which are often passed down from generation to generation. These costumes are made from scratch by the young Miao girls, weaving, research of patterns, hand embroidery of the belt and the floral plastron. This process can usually take one to two years. 13 to 15 metres of Batik fabric are needed to make the 500 pleats required for the so-called “hundred pleat” skirt.
Colours and designs may vary as each piece is unique. Limited Edition.
